Design and the Creative Industries: Universities and Industries Working Together
January 21, 2010 | Levent OZLER
The University of Brighton plays host to Design and the Creative Industries on Friday 26 March, a major conference to discuss the issues and anomalies raised in Advancing by Design, a report commissioned by HEFCE for the West Midlands Higher Education Association, and Delivering the Innovation Dream: The BDI Report.
Supported by British Design Innovation, the Chartered Society of Designers, Santander Bank and the South Coast Design Forum, the conference seeks to clarify why tensions have arisen between the creative design industry and higher education institutions, how design innovation is currently being delivered and how design as a whole is defined and understood.
The overall theme of the conference is Universities and Industries working together.
BDI's proposed University Design Industry Partnership Scheme will be one of a number of proposals to be explored in a bid to identify the most appropriate and effective means of advancing the UK's innovation strategy within the creative economy.
