CraftCube at Ceramic Art London
February 15, 2010 | Levent OZLER

With just two weeks to go until Ceramic Art London opens at the Royal College of Art, the organizers announced a pioneering addition to attractions at this annual celebration of the very best in contemporary ceramics, the CraftCube from the Crafts Council.
The CraftCube concept has been designed to allow everyone to experience almost first hand life in an artisan's studio. In this case the artisan in question is ceramicist, Merete Rasmussen.
On display will be Rasmussen's 2008 piece, Twisted Grey Loop, which was acquired for the Crafts Council in 2009. The piece is brought to life through lively audiovisuals: a large scale projection portrays an impression of the maker's studio environment and a table top mounted screen features close up documentary of maker's hands at work. Upon entering CraftCube, visitors are immersed in the studio environment and the processes involved in creating a sculptural object.
Alongside CraftCube visitors to Ceramic Art London will be able to see and purchase work from 76 of the world's leading ceramicists and also attend the Discovery series of lectures, which will include seminars from Elke Sada, Natasha Daintry, Robert Cooper, Takeshi Yasuda and Peter Hayes.
