DreamWorlds The Art Behind the Magic of Animated Filmmaking

DreamWorlds: The Art Behind the Magic of Animated Filmmaking

February 26, 2010  |  Levent OZLER

Art Center College of Design's Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery has teamed with DreamWorks Animation to produce DreamWorlds, a behind-the-scenes look at the artistry and imagination of animated filmmaking.

Over one-hundred objects in the exhibition include paintings, digital creations, posters, clay character models, film excerpts, an animation studio re-creation, and other byproducts of the complex animated filmmaking process that were drawn from popular DreamWorks projects such as Antz, Bee Movie, Madagascar, Monsters vs. Aliens, Shark Tale, Shrek and many others including the soon-to-be-released How To Train Your Dragon.

The opening reception on March 4 will feature a panel of Production Designers from DreamWorks that includes alums Kathy Altieri (How to Train Your Dragon, Over the Hedge), Kendal Cronkhite (Madagascar films, Antz), and long time DreamWorks Production Designer and DreamWorlds co-curator Sam Michlap (Shark Tale, The Prince of Egypt).

The exhibit will be on display through May 9 at the Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery, located on Art Center's Hillside Campus.
