Marmol Radziner Prefab Launches Affordable LOCOMO
June 24, 2010 | Levent OZLER
Marmol Radziner Prefab is launching its latest line of modular prefab homes, "Locomo," or LOwer COst MOdular.
Announcing the new product line at the upcoming Dwell on Design Conference June 24 in Los Angeles, the company will make modern, green prefab homes more affordable for lovers of modern residential architecture, while maintaining high levels of design and attention to detailing.
LOCOMO home prices range from approximately $200 to $250 per square foot, or $200,000 to $700,000 depending on the model and location of the project.
Locomo homes are available as one, two, and three bedroom single story structures or as a four bedroom two-story model.
Finish options include engineered bamboo flooring throughout the living and bedroom areas, as well as Marmoleum flooring in the bathrooms, and laminate counters and kitchen cabinetry.
Dual-glazing low-E windows are utilized throughout, as well as energy-efficient kitchen appliances.
The Locomo homes are manufactured with several factory partners around the country, transported as complete modules, and installed on site, greatly reducing the unpredictability of the construction schedule and cost.
"We're excited about making affordable green prefab homes more available to individuals and small families," said Marmol Radziner Managing Principal Leo Marmol.
"The launch of the Locomo series aims to bring a shift in the modern prefab housing market, allowing more potential homeowners to participate in the movement with more affordable options now available."
