David Godber to Stand Down as Deputy Chief Executive of the Design Council in December

David Godber will be standing down from the role of Deputy Chief Executive of the Design Council from December 2010.

He will be taking up a new role in industry in January 2011, but will continue to work with the Design Council in an advisory capacity.

David joined the Design Council from Nissan Design following a high-profile career in the automotive sector and energy sectors.

"Thanks to David's tremendous efforts we continue to open up new opportunities for design in areas such as dementia care and independent living for the elderly," said David Kester, Chief Executive of the Design Council.

"I am delighted that his continued involvement will help nurture some of these important activities."

The design challenge programmes that David has been developing will now be led by the Design Council's Chief Design Officer Mat Hunter, who brings many years experience at the front-line of design and industry.

The Council's mentoring projects such as Public Services by Design will continue to be led by Ellie Runcie.
