AIGA SF Cause/Affect 2011 - Call for Entries

AIGA SF Cause/Affect 2011: Call for Entries

Cause/Affect is a biennial, international design competition that celebrates the work of designers and organizations who set out to positively impact our society.

All work entered in the competition must promote and/or support social good and actively engage in enriching our lives & does not directly contribute to the profit of a commercial organization. Work submitted must have been produced and/or published between June 2009 and June 2011.

Entries will be seen by a jury composed of some of the country's most gifted designers and socially conscious minds in the business. The 2011 Judges are: Rob Duncan of Dowling Duncan, Karin Hibma of Cronan, Adam Reineck of IDEO, and Jason Schulte of Office. Selected work will be showcased at the Fall 2011 exhibit and awards ceremony, as well as featured on the cause/affect website, and the AIGA National Design Archives.

Of the winning entries, a select few will be entered in an online competition for the People's Choice Award; voting will take place on www.cause-affect.org in Fall 2011. A $2000 donation will be made to a non-profit chosen by the winner of the People's Choice award.

The competition generated a tremendous amount of interest and international participation in 2007 and 2009. With the continued growth of socially conscious design, the organizers expect to receive a similarly enthusiastic response. "Since starting cause/affect, we've been pleased to see socially conscious design become part of the main stream design vernacular with many designers striving to make it a focus of their careers," said Alice Bybee, AIGA SF President and cause/affect co-founder. "This year we look forward to seeing this reflected in the ever-increasing quality, as well as quantity, of entries from around the world."

Deadline for submission is June 24, 2011.
