Show Your True Colors with Boomerang
August 21, 2004 | Levent OZLER
During September, Boomerang, Cartoon Network’s 24-hour commercial-free classic animation network, will present a special tribute to classic cartoon characters with a twist. Fridays will become ‘Favorite Color Fridays’, in which each Boomerang will present a 24-hour marathon salute, 8 a.m. to 8 a.m., to one or more color-coordinated cast members from the Hanna-Barbera and Warner Bros. animation libraries.
Mark Norman, senior vice president and general manager of Boomerang explains: “Since many of our kid viewers are preschoolers or kindergarteners, we wanted to create a special event that would inspire them to come back every Friday to see what color would be featured that day. It also gives them the opportunity to spend a day giggling with these warm, soft characters, becoming as familiar with them as their parents did a generation ago. It’s very simple and straight-forward-a nd a lot of fun.”
The September salute kicks off as follows:
· Friday, Sept. 3-blue takes center stage, presenting that noble-hearted, slow-talking, Southern-accented bloodhound, Huckleberry Hound, and a colony of little blue people only three apples tall who make their homes in mushrooms, The Smurfs.
