New Product Development Process in Action Sports Industry

PDMA/LA, the Los Angeles chapter of the Product Development and Management Association, will present a panel discussion on the new product development process in the action sports industry at Otis College of Art and Design on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 6PM to 8:30PM. New Product Development Process in Action Sports Industry - What your business can learn from the experts developing everyone's favorite product will include networking before and after the expert panel discussion.

The event will be moderated by Steve Burke and will feature a panel of professionals in new product development, research and development, product planning and design. This panel seminar will be a great opportunity for product management professionals to network with cross-industry product innovators, learn ideas and strategies the experts have used that may apply to your business and product development & marketing.

Panel moderator Steve Burke is Director R&D at Aspen Medical Products. His group is responsible for the identification and implementation of new product ideas, technology research, media, product branding and development of orthopedic products for worldwide distribution. Previously a design lecturer at California State University, Long Beach, Steve has over twenty years experience in new product design and development.

Panelists include Vipe Desai, Owner, HDX Hydration Mix, Steve Squire - Designer, Powersports (retired), Honda R&D, Dan Hallada - Sr. Product Planner, Powersports, Honda R&D, Norman Kerechuk - President, GK Design and Chris Clark - CEO/Founder, Surfing is My Religion; Shaper Studios. "This will be a great event for action sport industry members as well as professionals for any industry looking to learn best practices from highly successful innovators," Dave explained about the inspiring panel of experts.

Vipe Desai, formerly of Monster Energy and Propaganda Headquarters and major action sports industry insider, launched startup beverage company HDX Hydration Mix this year. HDX Hydration Mix is a sports beverage in powder form with a dual mission to help reduce diabetes and plastic water bottle consumption. BevNet calls HDX "some of the best flavor and packaging that we've seen in the stick pack category." Desai will share his strategies for new product development in the action sports beverage industry and beyond.

Dan Hallada is a Product Planning Senior Analyst at Honda Research & Development. A former engineering designer and marketing researcher, Dan is currently responsible for strategic planning and new product development in motorcycles for Honda. He will share his insights on new product development based on thorough market and customer analysis.

Steve Squire, formerly a motorcycle designer for Honda R & D, and Norman Kerechuck, Designer and President of GK Design International, will share their expertise in product design. Chris Clark, Sports MBA Entrepreneur and CEO/Founder of CEO/Founder, Surfing is My Religion and Shaper Studios, will share innovations from the surfing industry.

Pre-registration is $20 for PDMA members, $30 for non-members, and $10 for students. An additional $10 will be charged for registration at the door. 2 PDH credits are available for NPDPs.
