The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and Yupo Corporation: Get Out the Vote

The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and Yupo Corporation are pleased to announce the successful completion of the "Get Out the Vote" design and poster campaign. The campaign encouraged people to vote on November 2, and a complete gallery of the artwork is available for download and print by visiting AIGA web site.

"This has been a real opportunity for designers to donate their talent and passion to creating civil discourse," Richard Grefé, AIGA Executive Director. "We are excited by the participation in this important initiative and the excellent quality of the submissions." ;

National AIGA chapters selected designs and printed approximately 40,000 11 x 17 "Get Out the Vote" posters on YUPO58 lb. Cover synthetic paper. The paper was selected because of its exceptional durability and print quality. Volunteers displayed the designs in such locations as libraries, banks, post offices, schools and town halls and other public gathering places. Distribution for the initiative began on July 4 and continues through Election Day.

Brian Drake (design pictured above) of the Arizona Chapter of the AIGA, was inspired to create an "instinctual illustration" ; by incorporating various techniques and layering images to create a feeling of movement and a call to action. The images recall a universality of American culture,
