Hang(O)ver by Tamara Smeets

August 10, 2005  |  Elif SUNGUR

Katholieke Hogeschool Mechelen in Belgium every year graduates around 100 qualified interior designers. The finishing Project includes the realization of a furniture prototype, resulting in a hundred, already tested, ready-for-series-production product designs.

Tamara Smeets, a fresh graduate, has designed Hang(O)ver, an item to the use of car repairers. It enables the repairer to hang over the hood of an automobile for a long duration of work with its specially designed tilting mechanism.

Hang(O)ver is placed in front of the hood of a car. Slightly resting the lower abdomen on the ergonomic cushion is enough to tilt Hang(O)ver to a lower angle and enable the person to stay in a comfortable position for car repair. Made out of bent iron profile, the design was made with precise calculations, keeping the weight of the item at lowest values and was added wheels for easy transportation. Its cushion abdomen-rest is adjustable for any height.

The design has not been sold to a production firm yet. For more information about the product, please contact:
