New Narratives from Cranbrook 3D Design

Cranbrook Academy of Art was founded in 1932 with the goal of integrating art and life. Guided by these ideals, the graduate 3D Design program at Cranbrook has earned a world-wide reputation as an experimental laboratory for exploring product form.
For today's young designers, the form and function of Modernism is no longer sufficient. Today's products "function" by telling a story and demonstrating a specific cultural point-of-view in a product landscape crowded with choices.
The 2004-05 student work in this show represents some of the ways that a new generation of Cranbrook designers are using stories and storytelling to integrate contemporary art, life, and design.
Works by the following students will be featured: Aaron Blendowski, Steve Bowden, Jason Cornelius, Kelly Cullinan, Jared Dickey, Cassandra Holman, Duck Young Kong, Kathryn Ludwig, Paul Martus, Mark Moskovitz, Jada Schumacher, Erik Strom, John Truex, Warit Tulyathorn, Thanapong Vudhichamnong and Yifei Zha.
