Teague Welcomes the New Year With Three International Award Wins - Moving Into Its 80th Anniversary Year, the Seattle-Based Design Firm Celebrates With Coveted Design Awards for Their Work With HP, Samsung and Infinium
Highlighting Teague's insight for unique, usable and noteworthy CE design, the company recently accepted two "Product Design" awards from the prestigious iF International Design Forum and a "Good Design" award from the renowned Chicago Athenaeum & Museum of Architecture & Design. The award wins underscore Teague's 80-year reputation for great design, covering everything from consumer electronics to aviation and user interfaces to consumer lifestyle products.
"It is an honor for us to win such celebrated awards," stated John Barratt, Teague president and CEO. "Each award represents a design challenge and resulting accomplishment for Teague. We have been recognized for defining function, elevating performance and enhancing the user experience -- which, for us, is what gives each creative endeavor meaning."
The iF International Design Forum's annual design review is often recognized as one of the world's key design competitions. An international panel of design experts reviewed more than 2,300 entries to determine this year's design winners in 12 select categories. Winning designs are showcased in a seven month exhibition at the Hanover Exhibition Center in Germany and enjoy placement in iF's prestigious design Yearbook.
The "Good Design" award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture & Design is one of the oldest and most distinguished award programs for design and manufacturing. Hundreds of entries are made each year, with awards presented to those considered leaders in innovation and advanced product and concept designs.
Teague's recent award-winning concept designs include:
Hewlett-Packard Upright Mobile Desktop PC Concept
Winner of the 2006 iF Product Design Award: Designed to be simplistic, with clean lines and a white finish, the Hewlett-Packard Upright Mobile Desktop PC integrates the attributes of a desktop, laptop, and entertainment center (including TV, HiFi, DVD Player, CD player, etc.) into a portable and self- contained unit. This concept reduces visual clutter in the home and simplifies users' digital entertainment experience. The integrated wireless capabilities and the detachable remote control support the transition of the computer's usage from a three-foot desk experience to a ten-foot entertainment experience.
Samsung Portable Digital Projector Concept
Winner of the 2006 iF Product Design Award: The Samsung Portable Digital Projector was created
with the goal of designing a projector that encompassed ease-of-use, portability and connectivity. Targeting the highly mobile professional, the projector is no larger than a digital camera and not only fits easily into today's busy schedule, but into a small bag or purse. The compact and ultra-portable video conferencing projection system offers an integrated and seamless content display experience, enabling the user to interact and control projection via mobile phone with the use of laser diode technology.
Infinium Phantom Gaming Service
Winner of the 2005 "Good Design" Award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture & Design: The soon-to-launch Phantom gaming service transfers the PC gaming experience from the Desktop to the Living Room. Acting as a gateway between the PC and the television, subscribers of the Infinium Phantom Gaming Service use the device to play PC games virtually anywhere in the home. An approachable aesthetic was created to appeal to the maturing gaming market, while an LED light story, provides the unit with a 'life-force' that visualizes the streaming concept.
The award wins come on the cusp of Teague's 80th Anniversary, which will be celebrated throughout 2006. The company's rich history provides a distinct outlook on the ever-changing direction of design. With varied projects underway for 2006, Teague continues to help define the industry by building on its extensive past while looking toward an expansive future.
