The 2006 Visions of the Future Art Competition
March 22, 2006 | Elif SUNGUR
One of the most stirring windows on the range of our potential futures is offered by the graphic arts. The World Future Society is now seeking submissions for its 2006 Visions of the Future art contest to find the most compelling visual imagery of the world we are building (or hope to build).
The winner will receive $500, a one-year membership in the World Future Society, and a scholarship to attend WorldFuture 2006: Creating Global Strategies for Humanity's Future, the annual conference in Toronto, July 28-30, 2006.
Each competitor is limited to three entries total, relating to any of the following suggested categories (or a category of your choosing):
Saving our "most precious" resource (e.g., water, food, land, air, energy, time).
Families, friends, and the future of relationships.
Exploration (e.g., space, oceans, human body).
Science and society (impacts of technology).
Fun (leisure, vacation, lifestyles, games).
Transportation by any means.
Education, learning, and the lifelong quest for knowledge.
Fashion (e.g., wearable technologies, smart clothes).
Rules for Visions of the Future World Future Society Art Competition:

All entries must be the contestant's original work. Plagiarism will be grounds for disqualification.
Entries containing material that is pornographic or defames a race, religion or ethnic group will not be considered. The judges' decision on these matters will be final.
Each entry should be accompanied by a short paragraph describing the entry.
Each contestant is limited to three entries, in any of the aforementioned categories, or a new category of their choosing (category must be indicated in the description, as noted above).
Judges for Visions of the Future will include artists, editors, and media specialists.
All entries will become the property of the World Future Society, to use for any purpose, or not, at its discretion. Digital files will not be returned to contestants.
