Cryptozoology: an Exhibition of Graphic Illustration
May 3, 2006 | Levent OZLER
Cryptozoology is the latest exhibition from the Primer collective, comprising of work by three successful graphic illustrators, Nils Davey and Simon Dovar from the award winning design company "Jawa and Midwich" and Andrew Groves from "I Make Things".
They return to The Pool exhibition space, after touring internationally in Tokyo and Dallas, with an exhibition that explores the themes of mythical creatures.
The collective is noted for the three distinct styles of its artists, finding their own way to investigate a collaboration of ideas and thought.
Their canvases are full of mythical beasts and fables yet display a keen awareness of the contemporary psyche, with its modern neuroses.
Groves' work creates scenes of angst-ridden monsters, Davey's beasts roam around in hysterical landscapes and Dovar's animals perform macabre acts on mankind.
17th May - 21st June.
