Fiat Lets the Public into the Design Process

Fiat Lets the Public into the Design Process

May 5, 2006  |  Senay TOPCUOGLU

Fiat is claiming a world-first by setting up a website where the public can have an input into the design of the new Cinquecento city car.

The company says that the project, called, "500 wants you" has the single aim of involving the public in "planning the evolution of Italy's most popular runabout."

The public can log on and make suggestions that may 'possibly' be used in the actual development of the project.

Before anyone gets too excited that their smart idea will get incorporated into the new car, a word of warning.

The new car goes into production in approximately 12 months time.

That means all the important aspects of the car have been frozen in preparation for production, so changes from now on can only be fairly minor.

What is the Italian for "spin"?
