Planet Propaganda Hired by Schutt Sports as Branding Partner
June 1, 2006 | Levent OZLER
Planet Propaganda was selected by Schutt Sports for brand development, identity, catalog and packaging redesign, web strategy, and advertising creation. Based in Illinois, Schutt is the world's largest manufacturer of football helmets and faceguards. The company also produces protective gear and equipment for basketball, softball and baseball, is the Official Base Supplier of Major League Baseball, and offers a full line of collectible helmets and bases.
"Planet is revamping our company's image to more accurately represent our size, our contribution to team sports, and our recognition among the coaches, athletes and parents who rely on our products," says Dave Rossi, Schutt's vice president of marketing. "Beyond their creative, strategic approach, Planet's passionate understanding of the sporting goods industry has helped us better express the pride we take in contributing to the players' protection."
"From Olympic softball to college football teams to youth basketball leagues, Schutt is clearly the category leader," adds Wade Breaux, brand manager at Planet. "For decades, their gear has been worn by Heisman Trophy winners, National Championship teams and many of college football's most storied football programs. We're looking forward to helping elevate their brand to reflect the leaders they are."
The first of Schutt's new brand and advertising designs developed by Planet will appear in conjunction with its 2006 sponsorship of the Arena Football League (AFL). A multi-level partnership, Schutt provides AFL teams with equipment that includes helmets, faceguards, shoulder pads, chin straps, chin cup sleeves and body protective padding. In addition, Schutt engages in joint retail and youth football marketing initiatives.
Schutt's new packaging designs also are anticipated in late summer for the 2006 football season. A member of the National Sporting Goods Association, Schutt generously contributes to the National Football League's youth program, USA Football.
