Ecodesign 06
June 13, 2006 | Levent OZLER
Eco-design has been treated by many companies as peripheral to their main product launch activities, except for perhaps some of the large multinational companies.
With the implementation of the EuP plus the combined impact of the European, Californian, Chinese and Korean other environmental legislation covering products this approach will no longer work in the future.
Failure to implement eco-design into the product design and launch documented management system will prevent products being put on the market in Europe and SE Asia as the different legislation is implemented.
The Energy using Products (EuP) directive will have the biggest impact of any European directive on the way companies launch their products.
It will fundamentally change the design process and require major changes to company's management systems.
This conference will explore these impacts and what companies can do to prepare for it in a practical and cost effective manner.
We are fortunate to have some of the prime movers in this area to present at the conference.
They will cover how the EuP is being implemented, case studies, Implementing eco-design and the technical and organisational challenges, tools that can be used.
Ecodesign 06 will take place on June 19th, 2006 in Farnham, Surrey, UK.
