PVH and B Robinson Optical Team Up to Launch the IZOD Sunglass Collection
June 18, 2006 | Senay TOPCUOGLU
Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation - PVH and B Robinson Optical, Inc. announced that they have entered into a license agreement under which B Robinson will produce a collection of men's and women's non-optical sunglasses under PVH's IZOD brand.
The collection will bring the recognizable high-quality casual design approach of the IZOD brand to eyewear. Sunglasses are the latest addition in the continued expansion of IZOD lifestyle product offerings, which currently cover over fifteen categories, including men's, women's and children's dress and casual apparel, accessories, intimates, soft home goods and ophthalmic eyewear.
The sunglass collection will capture the sport-spirited styling which has made IZOD a household name for years. Easy to wear men's and women's styles complement this modern traditional lifestyle brand. Capitalizing on the brand's fresh, clean attitude, IZOD sunglasses promise to offer consumers a unique eyewear collection.
The collection will debut in stores Spring 2007 and will be offered in four exciting groupings: IZOD Classic, IZOD XFG (X-treme Function Golf), IZOD PerformX and IZOD LX (Luxury Sport). The first collection will include frames made of acetate, metal and metal combination. A selection of updated, traditionally styled shapes will be balanced by sport-inspired retro aviators, oversized shields and unique wraps.
Keeping with IZOD's reputation for color, the collection will feature a broad color palette of new fashion colors, incorporating bright red, yellow, orange, blue and green into both the frames and lenses, as well as classic colors like black, brown, and tortoise. Select styles feature colored temple tips and double laminate techniques. Custom logo applications include hologram hot stamps, laser engraving and inset metal logo plaques. Functional details like the popular "soft touch" matte finish and inside ridging for firmer grip bring performance-enhancing details to this collection. Each style in the men's collection will also feature polarized lenses.
IZOD sunglasses will be available at major department stores, specialty stores, and sporting good stores nationwide.
Lori Robinson, VP Marketing and Public Relations of B Robinson, commented "Having been fans and consumers of this brand for years, we are excited to partner with IZOD on this new venture to offer a unique, fresh collection of sunwear to our customers."
"The team at B Robinson has done a superb job updating classic sunglasses to make them IZOD: stylistically on trend, sport-influenced in using functional materials and details; presented in sophisticated colors," said Malcolm Robinson, President of PVH's Sportswear Group. "B Robinson understands that product originality is what excites the consumer and builds brands. We are proud to have them as our partner."
