Sourcebook on Philippine Ethnic Patterns
August 14, 2006 | Senay TOPCUOGLU
The Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines is launching the book "Philippine Ethnic Patterns" on Aug. 24.
The book is a design sourcebook to aid the creative industries; it's the only sourcebook of design motifs culled from Philippine traditional arts and crafts.
Finally there is now a book of patterns that designers can turn to for inspiration for new designs and product adaptations.
The entire design industry is represented in the book-practitioners in product, furniture, jewelry, fashion, theater, interior design and architecture.
All creative industry professionals stand to benefit from this publication.
The book reduces designs and motifs taken from traditional Philippine arts and crafts into simple, flat, black-and-white line-drawn images.
