Destination 2026: The International Conference of Design for Sustainability

November 13, 2006  |  Levent OZLER

Right now, our activity -- human being's activity on this planet, is way beyond its capacity.

We urgently need to adjust our behavior in a way that the planet can accommodate, so that our persuasion of living -- achievement of sustainable society, can be realized.

At Destination 2026, The International Conference of Design for Sustainability, discussions on the management of sustainable society and corporations in a global perspective, responsibility of society, ideal relationship between design and corporations, and the way designer should be in such society, will be the key focuses.

At the conference, Professor Ezio Manzini of Politecnico di Milano (the founder of Sustainable Everyday, a project which draws living scenarios in a sustainable society) and many other professionals in ecodesign and ecomaterial from all over the world will gather at the conference.

From Japan, Professor Ryuichi Yamamoto of Institute of Industrial Science at University of Tokyo will be joining the discussion, and thoroughly debate the actions which we need to take in the near future.

This conference will be held with a conjunction of Eco-Products 2006, the biggest environment-related product exhibition in Japan.
