December 12, 2006 | Levent OZLER
It was a worthy highlight and end of this year's red dot award: communication design - the festive awards ceremony on Friday 8 December 2006 in the Essen Philharmonic Concert Hall, which was attended by some 800 guests from eight nations to celebrate the winners of this year's red dot award: communication design.
The tension with regards to the honorary prizes for the best works of each category, however, kept mounting during the ceremony, because the winners were not announced until the very end of the awards presentation.
The "red dot: junior prize" worth 10,000 euros for the best student work went to the three young designers Cornelia Vogt, Violetta Walter and Martin Gorka from Offenbach for their work "Erdzeiten – Atlas der Paläogeografie".
This year, the red dot: grand prix was for the first time awarded in several categories.
The work "Happy World, Best World International Limited Annual Report 2005/2006" by Epigram from Singapore won the red dot: grand prix as the best work in the category Corporate Design.
Atelier Brückner received the red dot: grand prix in the category Informational Design/Public Space for their "Tatort Forscherlabor", "Nano Maca" won in the category Packaging and the "Metropolitan World Atlas" in the category Editorial.
The agency Neue Digitale received the red dot: grand prix for their interactive website "adidas Sport Style Y-3" in the category Interactive Media, and the poster series "Amsterdam Sinfonietta" by Studio Dumbar from The Netherlands won in the category Posters.
