Kokuyo Design Award 2005 : Call for EntriesKokuyo Co., Ltd. has announced the Kokuyo Design Award 2005 design competition, and is encouraging all those wishing to participate to submit their user-oriented product designs.
The goal of the competition is to develop excellent ideas into commercial products.
Applications are accepted from March 15 to June 30, 2005.
Kokuyo Design Award was established in 2002 for the purpose of expanding the range of products based on ideas or designs originating with consumers.
The 2005 competition marks the fourth year of the award. "Universal design" was the theme of the competition for the first two years, followed by the concept of "designs that make working enjoyable."
The theme of the competition this year is "OKUYUKI".
The word "OKUYUKI" is used to indicate distance and dimensions, or used figuratively to describe a character or to convey a sense of reserve.
We are looking for new designs, regardless of outward appearance, that implement concepts of OKUYUKI, such as a product with a small entrance that leads into a deeper space; an easy-to-use product with a complicated structure; or a product that allows myriad individual methods of handling.
This year the subject fields have been expanded from stationery and furniture to include all sorts of products used in daily life.
