Tupperware Party: Past, Present, FutureThe enduring legacy of Tupperware’s innovative designs and strategic marketing makes it one of America’s great success stories. On view at Parsons School of Design from September 9 through November 1, 2004, Tupperware Party: Past, Present, Future explores and celebrates the evolution of this phenomenally popular product. Spanning over 50 years of designs and memorabilia, the exhibition addresses the broader economic, aesthetic, and cultural themes that shaped the evolution of Tupperware from new product to American icon, while emphasizing its genius and creativity as a functional art form.
“From rampant consumerism to women in the workplace, Tupperware touches on so many factors that have defined our post-war culture,” notes Natalie Marsh, Exhibition Curator and Columbus College of Art & Design Director of Exhibitions “therefore its design legacy needed to be explored in the broader context of American business, gender, and home life.”
‘Tupperware Party’ will include more than 50 years worth of Tupperware products including Wonderlier Bowls, Bell Tumblers, Jel-Ring Molds. In addition to over 500 Tupperware products, the exhibition will include documentary photographs, vintage advertising images, videos and other historic materials provided by the Smithsonian archives.
