It's Your Light : Student Design CompetitionLuraline has announced the call for entries for its fourth annual 'It's Your Light' student design competition.
The 2004-2005 competition, which solicits new concepts for lighting fixtures from design and architecture students, focuses on retail lighting. Fixtures should be suitable for restaurants, shopping centers and malls, retail stores and similar applications.
Examples include illumination of entrances and storefronts; interior aisles, walkways and public spaces; wall or ceiling-mounted fixtures for indoor and/or outdoor surfaces; task lighting; accent lighting; general area lighting; sign lighting; and more.
'Lighting is a crucial component of retail design,' Luraline President Howard Levine said. 'Students will be able to stretch their creativity to the fullest while designing fixtures for both indoors and outdoors, from signage to task lighting.'
As in past years, entries will be judged by a panel of industry experts based on creativity and feasibility of the design. The winner will receive a cash prize of $1,500, and the winning design may be put into production as part of the Luraline product line.
The competition is open to students enrolled in design and architecture programs at U.S. universities, colleges and technical schools. Deadline for entries is December 31, 2004.
