Good Chair : An Object of DesireThe serial exhibition, "Good Chairs" is organized to examine the present design culture with a topic of closely related objects to everyday life.
This year, the first theme of the exhibition is chairs as means of seats and aesthetical expressions. Chairs are medium objects to reveal designers' creativity, and they have become the index to make the design history possible.
Chairs have been known as one of the most familiar and important objects in interior design. They might be the objects of desire, which are for "wish to have" rather than for "wish to sit".
Frankly, chairs are chosen as sculptural forms or properties, and they are placed in special spaces.
Also, historically well known chairs become the form of collection. These kinds of chairs have been introduced by the various mass media, but this exhibition shows the relationship of the effects following the each chair as a central theme, and it exhibits background descriptions of the chairs with related pictorial information to review the value of the chairs.
In addition to them, the exhibition also displays the socio-cultural approach, which deals with the relationship between objects and people by observing the actual use of chairs.
