LCM 2005: Innovation by Life Cycle ManagementLCM 2005 aims to bring together, for the second time, researchers, academics, public and private institutions and professionals who work in design innovation, development and application of tools based on the life cycle of products, processes and services.
The first conference, LCM 2001, took place in Copenhagen in August of 2001. with deprecedent of international InLCA/LCM meetings in Arlington (2000) and Seattle 2003). The second conference, LCM2005, has been organized by the Catalan and Spanish Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Networks.
The conference will be held in the Barcelona International Conference Center (CCIB), recently inaugurated for the Barcelona Forum 2004, which seeks to integrate sustainable aspects into the urban Mediterranean environment.
Life cycle management is one of the leading integration and development tools for the promotion of more sustainable products, processes and services. This integration has two meanings. Firstly, the consideration of the environmental impacts of a product over its complete life cycle, from the extraction of raw materials to the final disposal of wastes. Secondly, it considers in an integrated frame, the three points of the sustainability triangle: environment and health protection, social acceptance and economic viability.
