50 unique and unconventional designs of the classic Arne Jacobsen Egg chair made by Tal R, a superstar of the art world, are going to be revealed during this years furniture fair in Milan.
The 50 unique artist Eggs will be launched and exhibited at Galleria Carla Sozzani from 16th - 27th April 2008 after which they plan to travel and be exhibited in museums and galleries around the world.
The colourful patchwork Egg chair designs are a combination of materials collected from around the world.
Some of the fascinating locations include Istanbul, Berlin and New York as well as second hand shops in Denmark and washed out work clothes from a kibbutz in Israel.
"The whole point was to make a chair that tells a multitude of stories.
So the pieces of cloth had to be full of life.
It should look a bit as if it was homemade." Explains Tal.
Inspired by the word "Egg", its shape and references to fertility combined with Tal R's fascination with the Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist Sigmund Freud, the classic chair has been completely transformed.
Tal R has chosen to name the 50 unique chairs with inspiration from the writings of Sig-mund Freud as the Egg is also a symbol of the forces of reproduction and the ability to create new life.

World Intellectual Property Day is rapidly growing in popularity.
Since its launch, eight years ago, increasing numbers of governments and organizations are joining WIPO in the annual celebrations on 26 April.
The man or woman in the street might wonder just what makes intellectual property worth all this effort.
What, they might ask, do the workings of copyrights, patents, industrial designs or trademarks have to do with the really big issues, like how to stop global warming; or with the things that add spice to life, like watching their favorite athletes perform in this year's Olympics?
The answer is that, without intellectual property rights, many new technologies developed to tackle global problems would never see the light of day and the great sporting events, which entertain and unite us, would not be broadcast into homes across the globe.
On World Intellectual Property Day we are celebrating not only the enormous power of human creativity, but also the intellectual property rights that help to fuel and channel it, making it such an important driving force for economic, cultural and social development.
The ingenuity of our species has propelled us from the invention of the first wheel, to effortless air travel and the latest generation of clean fuel technologies.
It has led us from the creation of drawings on a cave wall, to the printing press, and on to the Internet, which puts the world literally at our fingertips.

With the theme of "Feel the design power and use it in real life", the 2008 First China (Shenzhen) World Industrial Design Forum will be held from May 17 to 18 in the "City of Design" Creative Industrial Estate, Shenzhen, China.
As China continues on its path to becoming a major economic power, many Chinese design brands (especially industrial design) are making the transition from domestic to international competition with the best in the world.
Since a large number of these brands lack the international experience, professionalism and organisation that foreign brands might have, they must focus on building an effective globalisation strategy tailored to suit their needs and capabilities.
What is more, those Chinese design brands do not have enough brand recognition in developed markets like Europe and the US and bear the negative perception that their design and products are of poor quality.
This can cause difficulties when entering developed markets with their own brands.
A decent strategy may be needed to promote core strengths and abilities and to target a specialised market segment, like industrial design.
For the situations and difficulties mentioned above, this forum provides some answers and advice.
