The major world competition exclusively devoted to packaging design, Pentawards 2008, which is now endorsed by Icograda, will be judged by an international jury composed of eminent marketing specialists and designers.
The jury will be chaired by Gerard Caron, founder of Carre Noir (France).
The jury will give out 5 types of awards: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Pentawards.
In order to judge comparable creations, the presented works will be grouped in 5 major categories and more than 40 sub-categories.

Mozart, Falco, Viennese Schnitzel and coffee house tradition - most Germans will have these associations when thinking of Austria.
This notion is as likeable as it is cliched and incomplete.
Today, Austria is one of the EU countries with the highest export growth rates and this is also the result of its investment in design.
An insight into prize-winning Austrian product design is provided from 9 April until 4 May 2008 by the red dot design museum in Essen with the "abstrakt - konkret - ausgezeichnet (abstract - concrete - prize-winning)" exhibition.
In co-operation with the Austrian association of designers "Design Austria" it presents the prize-winning and award-winning projects of the Adolf Loos State Prize for Design 2007, Austria's most important design prize with the largest prize purse, which was created to make the outstanding achievements of the Austrian design scene visible.
The spectrum of the exhibited objects ranges from an elegant water glass and a multi-functional curtain made of concrete to stacking chairs with a novel connection system.
Supplemented by further outstanding Austrian design solutions, among them prize-winners of past years, the exhibition presents some 50 works by Austrian designers.
In the "abstract" section the originals are contrasted with models which are all of the same size and have the same surface structure - thus creating completely new, surprising perspectiveson the "concrete" objects.

In two weeks time, Milan plays host to the major international furniture and interior design event of the year when Salone di Mobile opens its doors to the world's design community.
But outside the gigantic halls of the Fair, there is just as much to see and admire as designers show off their creativity and inspiration on the fringes.
As big and as important as the fair is, more and more of the hip crowd forgo the show completely and head to the influential design district of Milan called the Zona Tortona.
This district in Milan has become known for housing the hottest young designers for the week of the Salone di Mobile and many of the key parties and events take place here.
This year, The Flower Council of Holland will also be taking up residence in Zona Tortona.
Set up to promote the use of cut flowers and plants, the Flower Council has invited five influential designers to create a team of Flower Power Fiats which will be based there.
Each designer has created a design using flowers to decorate the Fiat 500, arguably one of Italy's most iconic cars, and visitors to the Zona Tortona will be able to admire and may even be able to hitch a lift in one of the floral Fiats.

Material ConneXion, the leading global platform for material solutions and innovations, will present "Sustainable Materials for a Better World", a comprehensive overview of the latest sustainable material trends, at this year's Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, from April 16-22, 2008, located between Halls 14 and 18.

New advances in material processing will be highlighted, with examples of materials that have been redeveloped to eliminate toxic gasses and harmful chemicals.
An integral part of the exhibition will be the latest Cradle to Cradle materials, sourced directly from Material ConneXion's library-the only materials library in the world to feature Cradle to Cradle materials.
The addition of the materials earlier this year is part of a partnership between Material ConneXion, MBDC and EPEA to create greater global access to Cradle to Cradle materials, the building blocks for creating Cradle to Cradle products, and the products themselves.
