In the 16th and 17th centuries, China produced exquisite porcelain that remained a virtual secret to the outside world most of it was commissioned for the exclusive use of Japanese patrons.
A new exhibition at the Seikado Bunko Art Museum, "Chinese Porcelains of the Late Ming to Early Qing Dynasties," showcases more than 90 pieces of this blue-and-white ware, as well as enameled ware imported from China for use in Japanese tea ceremonies and kaiseki meals.
The exhibition highlights blue-and-white ware with cobalt underglaze from the private kilns of Jingdezhen in the northeastern part of Jiangxi Province.

This is the third design contest hosted by Design-engine.com. The first, held in the Fall of 2001, also focused on photoreal chair designs and attracted participants from around the world. Any original photoreal seating product, that is typically but not limited to products that a person could interface their body in a seated or lounging position. A crucial part of Ford Motor Co.'s comeback debuted Tuesday, with chairman and CEO Bill Ford Jr. driving the first redesigned 2004 F-150 pickup truck off the assembly line.
"That is one great truck," Ford said of the shiny red SuperCab Lariat as employees at Ford's Norfolk Assembly Plant cheered and Gov. Mark R. Warner and Mayor Paul D. Fraim looked on.
