 Power Innovation Game: a Practical Sustainable Design ExperienceSustainable design is an extensive hot topic, discussing about it is easy but the difficulties come when bringing it into practice.The Power Innovation Game is an interactive, playful and practical workshop where you are guided through the principles of business development, product design and communication in relation to sustainability. A practical design case will be introduced to start playing the game. There is a Score system during the 5 different phases to win the game. The better you apply the sustainable design strategies the more points you score. An external jury will choose the winner. This workshop considers the total lifecycle of products and services. It challenges to find business opportunities from an environmental, social and economical perspective. The presentation of short lectures through all stages of the workshop will make participants obtain enough knowledge to play the game as well as explore through the subject and elaborate their presentations. The 20 players will be working in groups, experiencing the power of participating within multidisciplinary teams.  Brad Ascalon to Hold Solo Show at ADAMInternational furniture designer Brad Ascalon will have a solo show at ADAM, a clothing boutique participating in Meatpacking District Design 09.Ascalon will furnish Adam Lippes' flagship location with furniture he has designed for Ligne Roset, Naula, Hightower, as well as his eponymous line. Replete with fresh, polished, and wearable clothing for men and women, views of a backyard garden, and lounge areas furnished with Mid-century Modern furniture, ADAM is the ideal backdrop for Ascalon's designs. "Both the spare, striking architecture of the space and the playful, yet elegant aesthetic of the brand's clothing line, make the ADAM boutique a wonderful setting for the work that my studio is showing," said Brad Ascalon. The Coffee Maker makes a ceremony of the roasting, grinding and brewing of fresh green beans. The beans can be roasted to any degree of roast, to any personal taste. They're then ground by hand which ensures no damage to the bean. And then brewed in glass, which prevents calcification.  I Saloni 2009: an Unprecedented SuccessThe Saloni 2009 exceeded every possible expectation, the testing global economic climate notwithstanding.The huge success of the 2009 edition is recognition, yet again, of the quality of the goods on offer and of the layout of the exhibition space. There were 313,385 visitors altogether, including operators, members of the general public and the press. The 48th edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, held at the Milan Fairgrounds in Rho, which ended on Monday 27th April 2009 along with the biennial Euroluce, and together with the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and SaloneSatellite, was another record edition. The Saloni is the collective name for the above-mentioned events, which have proved yet again to be a beacon of style for furnishing, technical illumination and young designers, as well as an acknowledged setter of trends. 2,723 exhibitors (911 of whom were from other countries) ranged over an area of 202,350 square metres; the exhibition space was completely sold out, with 491 companies on the waiting list, their applications turned down due to lack of available space. more I Saloni 2009: an Unprecedented Success added by Levent OZLER |
