400 Years Later Cite Goes Dutch

400 Years Later: Cite Goes Dutch

The exhibit presents everything from furniture and tabletop objects to jewelry by 23 emerging Dutch designers and manufacturers and 1 photographer.

Curated by Studio Jan Habraken and Alissia Melka-Teichroew in collaboration with Wabnitz Editions Ltd and Josee Lepage, the work draws an outline of contemporary design coming out of, and shaped by, the unique climate of the densely populated Netherlands, whose designers grow up below sea level and under heavy gray skies.

400 Years Later will introduce recent and never before seen work by Studio Oooms, Frederik Roije, Jorre van Ast, Mirjam van der Lubbe, Studio Glithero, Sander Mulder, Lucas Maassen, Lotte van Laatum, Dave Keune, Maarten Baptist, Lisa Klappe, Jan Habraken and byAMT Studio, among others, that is both intricate and pared-down, pragmatic and poetic, witty and well-crafted.

Arc Collection by Zephyr Receives Three Prestigious Design Awards

Arc Collection by Zephyr Receives Three Prestigious Design Awards

Zephyr, a leading designer and manufacturer of design-centric kitchen ventilation hoods, has received three highly acclaimed design awards for its new Arc Collection designed by Robert Brunner.

The Arc Collection is a line of high-performance, elegantly minimalist range hoods that deliver the latest in compact power.

The Plane kitchen ventilation hood, which creates an angular sculpture that dramatically grows from the wall, received the renowned Good Design Award presented by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.

The Museum recognizes the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product, and graphic designs produced around the world.

The Award for Design Excellence (ADEX) was presented to Layers, a low profile ventilation hood with a floating design that highlights its use of glass by presenting a very thin profile within the kitchen.

The ADEX is the largest awards program for product design marketed to the design trade and is sponsored by Design Journal, the international trade publication for interior designers and architects.

Judged for its superior aesthetics, human factors, innovation and technical merits, the Horizon ventilation hood was recognized with a Silver EID Award in Appliance Magazine's 22nd annual Excellence in Design competition in the appliance category.

Dancing Table Design to Celebrate a Culture

Dancing Table: Design to Celebrate a Culture

Joel Escalona will be present at ICFF as a part of ICFF Studio with his project Dancing Table.

The Dancing Table is a rigid surface with small waves in the exterior, which leaves plenty space in the center for a lamp and small things.

The Dancing Carpet is one big surface with soft waves in different vibrant colors; acting like one big dress in movement on the floor.

Just as if they were dancing together, the carpet and the table are inspired by Mexican Traditional Dances and Dresses.

The goal was to design something inspired by Mexican's culture and folklore, so I look at some of our dresses and colors and try to capture the shapes made by dresses in movement in order to design the Dancing Table and the Dancing Carpet.

Pecanpals Sustainable Wooden Figures

Pecanpals: Sustainable Wooden Figures

Following the success of their previous coloured wood edition, Noferin announced their Natural Wood Series of Pecanpals.

Pecanpals are made from 100% sustainably harvested wood from rubber tree that would otherwise go to waste.

Rubber trees are planted for their rubber, and after about 20 years, their rubber yields start to diminish.

No two Pecanpals look the same.

They all have very unique markings due to the wood grain.

Some are spotted, some have a marbled look, some are a mixture of the two.
