 Roche B Me InitiativeOn occasion of World Arthritis Day, with a motto "Let's Work Together," Belgrade Design Week and Roche presented design solutions for medical aids for people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.These solutions were created by Serbian designers who met people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis on the workshop held during Belgrade Design Week in May this year.  RKS Wins Three 2009 Spark AwardsSpark has announced that three of the 2009 Spark Awards winners featured in a new exhibition at San Francisco's Autodesk Design Gallery were awarded to world-recognized strategy, innovation, and design consultancy RKS.On Thursday, October 29th, the Autodesk Design Gallery in San Francisco hosted a "Celebration of Design" to showcase the winning selections. "Even with the Bay Bridge shut off for repairs, we had a good turnout, including Ravi from RKS, Yves from Fuse, Sam from HP, Kit from Studio Hinrichs and many more good solid designers who make up the true 'creative stimulus' of our community," said Peter Kuchnicki, President of the Spark Design Awards. "It was a wonderful event, combining the opportunities to see some of the world's best designs and mingle with talented colleagues," said Ravi Sawhney, RKS founder and C.E.O. "We're delighted to have our designs which span the spectrum from sustainability to sustaining lives, honored by Spark." RKS was honored with a Spark! - a "best of the best" level award - for Laundry POD, an innovative, eco-conscious, hand-powered laundry device.  2010 Ceramic Tiles of Italy Design CompetitionThe Italian Trade Commission and Confindustria Ceramica, the Association of Italian Ceramics, recently announced the 2010 Ceramic Tiles of Italy Design Competition Call for Entries.The competition, now in its 17th year, recognizes the exceptional work of North American architects and designers who feature Italian ceramic tiles in their institutional, residential or commercial / hospitality spaces. Winners in each category will receive a cash prize of $5,000 and a five-day trip to Bologna, Italy to attend Cersaie 2010 - the world's largest exhibition for ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings - joining a delegation of top consumer and design journalists. Ceramic Tiles of Italy will award an additional $1,000 to be shared by the winning contractor / distributor team. Domestic and international new construction and renovation projects completed between January 2005 and January 2010 are eligible for entry.
