![]() AGATA Chair from Kokuyo Wins Prestigious German Design AwardThe new AGATA/D chair from Kokuyo has won the prestigious Universal Design Award 09.The award is judged by a panel of five professional designers and a cross section of 100 end users. Although sponsored by German organisations Universal Design GmbH and iF International Forum Design GmbH, the Award recognises international design excellence and Kokuyo becomes the first Japanese company to be honoured. The Universal Design Award was established to raise awareness of contemporary design issues to individuals, businesses, researchers and government. The programme is unique in that it invites the public to participate in deciding which products deserve an award. Judging decisions are based on key criteria such as accessibility, flexibility, intuitiveness, safety, affordability and sustainability. ![]() School of the Art Institute of Chicago Exhibitions at SaloneShowcasing its young designers' ideas, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is planning multiple exhibitions during the week of Salone del Mobile 2009.In conjunction with its SaloneSatellite exhibition, "Objects for the Age of Obama: New Objects Inspired by Change, Hope, Challenge and Allure," SAIC's second in three years, the School will be presenting two complimentary exhibitions - the only American school to do so.
