Red Dot Volunteers Look Behind the Scenes of the Red Dot Design AwardFour young design students now have the opportunity to glance behind the scenes of one of the most important international design competitions.
For the occasion of judging the red dot award: product design 2008, red dot announced four volunteer positions and selected four young students from numerous applications who now have the chance to see the newest and most innovative products from around the world gathered in one place, and look over the shoulders of acclaimed design experts during the judging process.
From January 21 to March 7, 2008, the red dot volunteers will become acquainted with the exciting nature of the red dot judging phase.
As part of a huge logistic feat, all of the products registered will be presented in purpose-leased halls for the judging phase that spans several days.
Unlike other design competitions, the red dot design award is judged on the product.
The volunteers will assist in assembling and removing the products and will take part in the jury's preparatory and follow-up meetings.
Of course, they will also have the opportunity to experience the expertise first-hand.
This is sure to be an exciting experience, as the red dot jury teams appraise and test the products in detail based on criteria such as the level of innovation, functionality and ergonomics.
