Professor Gonzalo Tassier Awarded 2008 Sir Misha Black MedalKnown for "his original, sensitive style, which is simple yet methodical and perfectionist...", Professor Gonzalo Tassier has been awarded the 2008 Sir Misha Black Medal for distinguished services to design education.
The Misha Black Medal will be given to Gonzalo Tassier at a special award ceremony to be held at the Royal College of Art at 6pm on Wednesday, March 5th 2008.
Following this presentation Professor Tassier will deliver an address on his design and education philosophy and speak about his own career as teacher and designer.
This is the first time the Medal has been presented to an educator in Latin America.
Gonzalo Tassier being a man of many virtues is also President of the Retorno Tassier, and the Communication Design Agency, as well as being a guest lecturer in universities such as Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA).
A former student proclaimed that he is the type of man who " [...] makes you proud to be a designer."
Sir Misha Black was a founding member of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) in 1957, and later president from 1959 to 1961.
The Sir Misha Black Medal for Distinguished Services to Design Education was instituted in 1978 as a memorial to Sir Misha Black, designer and teacher, following his death in 1977.
