Business and Design Lecture Series at the Red Dot Design Museum, SingaporeDesign is one of the main factors for economic success.
However, how can design be successfully integrated in marketing? red dot academy pursued this question on the second evening of its "Business and Design" lecture series on 15 January 2008 at the red dot design museum in Singapore.
Regina Chua, managing consultant at Discipline Dynamics, a leading marketing consulting firm in Asia, gave a presentation that was attended by design students and graduates as well as designers and business professionals.
"How is design best implemented to promote sales?", "How are consumers influenced in their purchasing decisions by branding, design, and their own values?" - These were questions pursued by Ms Chua in her lecture.
Featuring case studies of leading brands such as Apple, she showed the importance of branding, and, with concrete examples, demonstrated the significance of the so-called 4 C's (customer - centricity, communication, convenience, costs).
Her presentation confirmed: Design, however important it may be, cannot be regarded as a stand-alone task.
Rather, it must be integrated and consistently implemented in all company activities in order to be strategically effective.
