FUCINA: The Faculty of Design and Art of Bolzano at the Salone del MobileOne of the characteristics of the study model of the Faculty of Design and Art of the Free University of Bolzano, is its close interaction between professional design and the manufacturing world.
The teachers are all active professionals in the project field and follow an interdisciplinary teaching approach that intentionally ignores the traditional boundary between graphic design and the product.
In this particular educational environment, the students of Bolzano can develop their creativity and talent, and are often able to create a series of objects with great impact and design value.
It would be a shame if the realisation of these projects remained only a dream.
On the initiative of Dean Kuno Prey a group of students was formed to try and realise these projects.
With the close cooperation of design student Nicola Gotti as well as Arnbjörn Eggerz, a recent graduate of the Faculty of Economics, a platform has come into being, for the management and distribution of a selection of projects developed by students over the last few years.
The name that has been given to this unusual and daring initiative is FUCINA (forge), because, just as with pieces of iron, it is there that these newborn ideas, still incandescent and forgeable, can be refined and polished, thus developing a project that is mature for the market.
