From Milan Furniture Fair 2004: "Droog, Go Slow"From Domus Magazine.
Strange rumours abounded regarding Droog this year. The Dutch group however hit the target for the freshness and intelligence of their proposals. The theme was slowness - a difficult one that isn't for everyone during the frenetic days of the Salone - that prompted an audacious look at more serious issues. Here's how it worked - you paid at the cash desk (15 euro) for a slow lunch where you were immediately issued with a number and a napkin designed by Chris Knabel. A bit of a queue? None other than a bit of time to relax and enjoy the best of what was to come. Once the moment arrived, you put on some felt slippers and sat at a long table covered with soft wax after having selected from the wall one of the new chairs by Jurgen Bey (used in the Baltic House Theatre in St Petersberg) or relaxed in one of the rocking chairs.Ready to order? The food was then prepared with calm, care and attention by the elderly staff taken on specially for the occasion (here even the teabags are sewn by hand). The food, designed by Marije Vogelzang, had been simplified as much as possible so as to heighten the level of care and attention given to each moment of the preparation.
