Andrea Pininfarina, chief executive of Pininfarina, the design firm best known for styling classic Italian sports cars, like the Ferrari Dino and the Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider Duetto, died early Thursday morning when his Vespa scooter was hit by a car near Turin, Italy, close to where the company is based.
"Italy, Turin and the Fiat group have lost a business figure who knew how to follow and develop the work of his grandfather Pinin and his father Sergio," Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, chairman of Fiat and Ferrari, said in a statement.
