Discovery Evening: Design Creates Added Value

At the beginning of the subscription period for the "red dot" top7 bond Sparkasse Essen, together with red dot, held a discovery evening for invited guests in the red dot design museum on 20 April 2009.

At the event Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, head of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and initiator of the red dot design award, held a lecture on the subject "Design creates added value."

Following the phrase "Good design is good business" coined by former IBM president Thomas Watson jr in the 1950s, Zec explained why from an economic point of view it is indispensable for companies to invest in design and how these costs generate a profit.

Then Arnd Brechmann, regional director of Sparkasse Essen, talked about the current global economic situation and introduced the chances and prospects connected with an investment in the "red dot" top7 bond.

In order to take into account the increased significance of design for investors, Sparkasse Essen presents a red dot special exhibition at their main branch.

Selected products, which have been awarded the red dot for their pioneering design quality, will be presented to the public from 20 April to 15 May 2009.
