The Edison Awards, recognized as one of America's leading innovation awards, is accepting nominations through Dec. 11, 2009 for the 2010 Edison Best New Product Awards and Edison Green Award.
The awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931), the most prolific inventor and innovator in U.S. history.
Edison received 1,093 U.S. patents and 1,293 international patents during his lifetime.
The awards are among the most elite accolades a company or individual can receive, honoring excellence in new product development, design, marketing and innovation.
"New products are the life blood of the U.S. economy.
This year, the Edison Awards Steering Committee expects to receive nominations for game-changing products and services that will help drive growth and value creation in our innovation economy," said Sarah Miller Caldicott, Chairperson of the Edison Awards Steering Committee.
"The Edison Awards have recognized environmentally friendly products since 1987, and we're very excited this year to begin recognizing organizations that are at the leading edge of Green Technologies with the Edison Green Award.
The Edison Green Award reflects the new thinking around socially responsible growth and reducing carbon footprints for organizations as well as entire communities across the world today," Caldicott added.
The Edison Awards are known globally for recognizing and honoring innovation and excellence in the design, marketing and launch of new products.
