Toshiba Thailand is considering setting up a design centre for electrical appliances, which would make it the first of its kind outside of Japan.
This move would support Thailand's plan to promote the creative economy as the Kingdom's next economic engine.
President Hidenori Matsui said the possibility of setting up a local design centre was in line with Toshiba's "localisation" strategy, under which items that fit in with the tastes and lifestyles of local consumers were produced.
"We want to get much more localised, and under this strategy design and technology development can come together in one place," he said.
