Christopher Wilk, Keeper of the Furniture Textiles & Fashion Department, V&A, chairs a conference that surveys major 20th-century designers and centres of furniture design and production.
Speakers will approach seemingly well-known topics such as Bauhaus furniture and post-war Italian design from entirely new perspectives, based on new research.
They will also re-evaluate the roles of major figures such as Marcel Breuer, Gio Ponti, Robert Venturi and Denise Scott-Brown, as well as bringing to light lesser known but significant work from turn-of-the-century Netherlands, early 20th-century Hungary and 1930s Turkey.
