Surprises Galore at Design ShowA final year student of Indian Institute of Technology, displaying a new automobile model at the Design Degree Show 2004 in New Delhi over the week-end.
Innovation is the name of the game here. A visit to this exhibition and you will probably never look at your washing machine or your microwave the same way again. The place that gifted the Capital with its new age rickshaws and many more designer products is back with another design show. And one that presents just as many surprises as the last one.
Displaying the work of students doing the masters of design programme at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, the week-long annual Industrial Design Degree Show that kicked of here on July 13 has already created a buzz in the industry with the design team of Maruti having made a visit and many more corporate teams expected on Monday.
Aimed at showcasing the skills that have been developed by students during their study period as part of their projects - sponsored or otherwise - the show has over 30 products on display. Not all may make it to the market, but as students here point out selling is not always the final destination for these works.
