China's Biggest Digital and Toy Design Plaza to Begin ConstructionA plaza for IT and toy designing, development, demonstration and marketing will begin construction in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning province this year.
In accordance with an agreement signed by the Shenyang city government and the Yifeng Group of Shanghai on Saturday, Yifeng Group will invest 2.2 billion yuan (about US$265 million) in building a complex with a combined floor space of 480,000 sq m on a land of 16 hectares. The project will take an estimated three years to finish.
Facilities for production, processing, storage and other auxiliary works will be completed during the first phase of construction at a cost of 400 million yuan (some US$48.2 million).
Zhang Fengye, general manager of the privately owned Yifeng Group, said the plaza would fill a gap in toy production markets in northern China and would also be able to accommodate 2,000 businesses, plus 20,000 new job vacancies on its completion.
Currently, there are nine large professional toy-making bases in China, all in south China's Guangdong province.
