Paris Motor Show 2004Petrolheads will be in love in Paris for two weeks early in October as the sleek lines of new supermodels make their debut at the Paris Motor Show.
While many visitors attend for more practical reasons, such as comparing the different models they are considering for their next car, others will gather to drool over the dream cars and high-end sports cars that inevitably are found at the centre of large crowds.
Peugeot will be showing off its 907, the company's view of 'how the ultimate GT car should look'. Powered by a 6.0 litre V12 engine developing around 500bhp, it transfers power to the wheels through a sequentially controlled 6-speed manual gearbox. A carbon fibre body surrounds the leather and Alcantara passenger compartment.
One of the busiest stands at the show will be under the Ferrari banner, where the new F430 makes its debut. The replacement for the 360 Modena features an all-new 4.3-litre V8 that propels the car from standstill to 60mph in less that four seconds, and on to an estimated 196mph.
New technology abounds, with an electronic differential and a steering wheel switch that puts control of the vehicle's dynamics system at the driver's fingertips.
The show takes place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles between 25 September and 10 October. For more information, visit the Paris Motor Show 2004 web site.
