Ford Focus Vignale Concept DesignThe Focus Vignale Concept takes its inspiration and name from the late Alfredo Vignale, an automotive designer who was strongly connected to Ford's European design heritage.
The Vignale Concept is described by Ford as being two cars in one – coupe and convertible, which makes it the latest in a lengthening line of cars of the 'CC' genre, the latest generation of which began with the Peugeot 206 CC.
In common with its rivals, at the push of a button, the coupe transforms into an open-top convertible, the hard-top folding to stow cleanly in the boot.
In a press statement made sticky with syrupy rhetoric – 'The surfacing is fluid and appealing, punctuated by neat details. Your fingers want to caress its surfaces' – we are told that the Focus provided the concept design team with '…an opportunity unprecedented in the C-segment to create a stunningly attractive coupe derivative without making awkward design concessions to the practical packaging difficulties inherent in a folding-top cabriolet'. This is not the same as copying the Peugeot 307 CC.
Inside the Focus Vignale Concept, says Ford, the emphasis is on luxury and '…the same attention to craftsmanship found in the production Focus models'.
