Audi's Futuristic RSQ Star Attraction at ShowThe star attraction at the show was the futuristic film car that was created for the action movie I, Robot.
The Audi RSQ sport coupé concept is a visionary interpretation of Audi's typical design language. And despite its extreme character the car could still be recognised as an Audi.
Unlike the weird Lexus concept that was used in the Tom Cruise movie, Minority Report, the RSQ does look like a real car. But it does include some not-so-typical features suggested by movie director Alex Proyas.
The mid-engined sports car operated by the story's police department races through the Chicago of the future not on wheels but on spheres. Its two doors are rear-hinged to the C-posts of the body and open from the bottom up like butterfly wings.
The car oozes 2035 class. Everything on and in the car is operational with the slanted lights cutting through the mist at the unveiling. The traditional black grille and four-circle badge prominently placed on the front and rear, plus the creamy-smooth bodywork flowing from head to toe makes this car look more like a 2006 Audi TT than something from 2035.
The angular lights, windows and aggressive lines of the sills offset the bodywork. Once the doors open, the neon-blue interior becomes visible.
If this is anything to go by, then the future of motoring looks good.
