Survey: Europeans Want Portable Music, not VideoOnly 13 per cent of Europeans are interested in portable video players, according to a survey from Jupiter Research.
The market research group surveyed 5,000 consumers in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Spain, and found that while 27 per cent of them are interested in portable devices such as the iPod that play music, only five percent wanted a player that played both music and video, and seven percent were interested in devices that could play both games and video.
In France, some 39 per cent were interested in music players, and in the UK 31 per cent were interested in them. Interest in portable digital music players declined in the other jurisdictions.
This all suggests quite strongly that while a number of firms have recently released or are readying for release combined portable music-video offerings, it's all about the rock and roll, baby, and people just don't want multi-purpose devices.
