Japan Awards EyeToy Good Design AwardThe success of EyeToy continues, as today Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced that the innovative peripheral has been awarded the prestigious Good Design Award from the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organisation, sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
Recognised in the category of Product Design, the award is granted to products that “strive to improve the life of consumers, whilst making significant advances for the industry and expanding new areas of business”.
Naturally the team behind the EyeToy were reasonably chuffed with the achievement, As Mike Haigh, Director of Development for both EyeToy and SingStar™ commented, “The recognition and awards that the dedicated team at SCEE's London Studio have received for EyeToy over the past 18 months has been incredible. Following onto awards received in Europe and the US, we are extremely proud to accept this honour from Japan.”
It's only the latest in a long line of awards for Team London, following on from recognition by BAFTA, CESA Game Award, MCV Industrial Excellence Awards, Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences for Outstanding Innovation in Console Gaming, Game Developers Choice Award for Innovation, Develop Industry Excellence Award and Sony Corporation' s own COO award for recognition of excellence.
